On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2024, Torri Lana inaugurated the exhibition “Torri Lana 1885 Arazzi Connections” at its exhibition space. This collection of tapestries, featuring works by prominent names in the design world, represents a journey into the realm of master weaving.
Within the exhibition, an area is dedicated to temporary displays by artists whose work is related to the textile world. The first special guest of the exhibition was Laura Renna, winner of the Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation Prize at the international competition for young sculptors in 2008, known for her works exploring nature, memory, and transformation. On display are her textile sculptures “Daimon,” “Senza Titolo” (2022), and “Soft Face,” created specifically for the exhibition using woolen blankets, a tribute to the fine and ancient craftsmanship typical of Val Gandino.
Among the designers featured in the « Torri Lana 1885 Arazzi Connections » exhibition is also Studiocharlie. This renowned design studio recently collaborated with Mipa in the creation of its first collection of terrazzo furniture objects, entitled « Monomateria, » which can be seen exhibited among the furnishings of the show with the pieces coffee table and side table « Neolitico. » Studiocharlie also contributes to the Torri Lana collection with its tapestry « FULMINI! », which captures attention with its graphic reinterpretation and vibrant three-dimensionality, offering a reflection on the essence of objects and their impact on our daily lives.
Torri Lana 1885, the company that made this extraordinary collection possible, is a pillar in the Italian textile industry. Founded at the end of the nineteenth century, the company continues to keep alive the tradition of producing high-quality fabrics for furnishings, collaborating with the greatest names in national and international design.
The exhibition, inaugurated during MDW 2024, represents an extraordinary encounter between past and present, tradition and innovation. Through the works of Laura Renna, Studiocharlie, and other talented designers, tapestries have become not only decorative works of art but also tools to explore new creative frontiers and emotional connections.
