Osteria Madre in Ostuni: a contemporary culinary space enriched by Mipa's graniglia

Located in the historic heart of Ostuni, Osteria Madre exemplifies the harmonious blend of traditional elements and contemporary design, enhanced by the use of Mipa’s graniglia. This project, undertaken by architects Serena L. Rosato and Dario Flore of Diorama Atelier, is a tribute to the rich cultural heritage of Puglia, reflected in vibrant colours, authentic materials, and meticulous design details.

At the core of Osteria Madre’s transformation is Mipa’s graniglia, masterfully integrated into the design, adding elegance and durability to the space.

The tiles from Mipa’s Modulo and Slabs collections bring a unique texture and visual interest to the flooring, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal. In Osteria Madre, the Modulo collection, used in various colours, creates beautiful patterns that seamlessly blend with the restaurant’s rustic yet modern ambience, guiding the flow of the space and connecting different zones with a coherent visual theme.

The Slabs collection, particularly in the Fancy colour, adorns the common bathroom area, creating an interesting contrast with the wall tiles. The renovation involved merging four existing commercial spaces into a cohesive open-plan restaurant. This process included removing obsolete additions and restoring original features, such as the exposed rock wall, which now serves as a striking backdrop in the main area.

The choice of Mipa's graniglia not only adds a historical touch but also provides a robust and easy-to-maintain surface, ideal for a restaurant environment.
