MIPA on display: “The Farm Shop”, Milan

MIPA's terrazzo between functionality and creativity at the "The Farm Shop" exhibition by Grymsdyke Farm at the Theatro hub in Milan

On the occasion of FuoriSalone during Milan Design Week 2024, the Theatro hub in Milan hosted “The Farm Shop” from April 12 to 19. This exhibition, presented by Grymsdyke Farm and Fels, showcased MIPA’s terrazzo in an entirely new light.

This collaborative project brought together talented designers, architects, and international studios, creating a collection of tableware items that challenged the boundaries between art, design, and functionality. They drew on a wide range of materials, including MIPA’s terrazzo, and production techniques—from traditional craftsmanship to contemporary digital design methodologies.

For the exhibition, each designer explored a wide range of tools, inspirations, and possibilities, creating unique and innovative works. Among the participating artists, architect and designer Guan Lee garnered significant attention through his collaboration with MIPA, with whom he created coffee tables of various sizes and stools made of graniglia, with a cubic, simple and linear shape yet with extraordinary visual impact.

Thanks to this collaboration with MIPA, Lee was able to design a customized decor with a captivating mix of colors, creating entirely new patterns that added a touch of originality and sophistication to his works. The combination of the essential form of the tables and the striking design of MIPA’s terrazzo represents a perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality, embodying the very essence of “The Farm Shop.”

This exhibition not only celebrated creativity and innovation in design, along with Grymsdyke Farm and its collaborators’ commitment to exploring new possibilities through the experimentation of materials and production techniques, but also highlighted the versatility and excellence of MIPA’s terrazzo. It demonstrated MIPA’s fundamental role in the contemporary art and design landscape.
